M:KC and Commission for the New Economy rationalise resources
Manchester: Knowledge Capital (M:KC) and the Commission for the New Economy have announced that the M:KC Board and the New Economy’s Innovation Sub Group are to merge.
The new group will be called the Manchester Innovation Group and will oversee innovation strategy and policy for the city region and secure its implementation.
This is simply a governance merger, and so at an organisation level M:KC and New Economy will remain separate - retaining their current day to day roles in the city region and their management structures. M:KC will maintain the same Directors, which include Sir Richard Leese. Ms Jane Davies, CEO of Manchester Science Park, will be Chairman of the newly merged group.
The current economic climate requires that wherever possible there is rationalisation of resources. In the case of the M:KC Board and the Innovation Sub-group, bringing the governance of the two bodies together will also clarify and strengthen the innovation message at city region level - at a time when creating a strong and coherent innovation strategy is essential to maximise the growth potential of the city region.
